Local File Processing

The core features process selected files locally on your device. Images are compressed or converted into PDFs, videos and audio files are converted locally with a browser engine, PDF sizes are checked, and PDF, DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files are optimized in the browser. File contents, file names and source files are not sent to our servers.

Native Apps

The native iOS and Android apps use system pickers such as Apple's photo picker or the file picker so you can select files. Compression and conversion then run on the device; output files are shared or saved locally. The document scanner uses the camera through the relevant system or Google Play services scanner interface to create PDFs from paper documents. The apps use no first-party accounts and no location feature. The camera and microphone are used only when you take a photo, record video or audio, or scan a document, and those recordings stay on the device. Where FileSizeFix Pro is available, optional auto-renewing subscriptions are purchased through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google process store account, purchase and payment data under their own terms; we do not receive card or payment details, file contents or scan images. For operations, error diagnosis and product improvement, the apps send privacy-minimal events with a random installation ID, app/OS version, device model, locale, subscription and review interactions, and technical error details; the server adds IP address and a country hint. Advertising IDs, file names, file contents, accounts, receipts, card details and payment data are not sent to our server.

Advertising in the apps

The apps are funded by advertising from Google AdMob. A full-screen ad can appear while a compression job is running, and the tool screens can show a banner. Saving, exporting and sharing your finished files is never tied to an ad. The optional FileSizeFix Pro subscription removes advertising completely.

To deliver, cap and measure ads, Google processes device and usage data, in particular an advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android), the IP address and the approximate region derived from it, device and browser data, and interactions with ads. Google acts under its own terms; details at https://business.safety.google/privacy/. File contents, file names and scans are never passed to advertising. In the EU, EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, a Google-certified consent dialog (Google User Messaging Platform) appears before the first ad; while it is unanswered, no ad is loaded. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in the app settings under "Ad privacy settings". The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; without consent only non-personalized ads are served.

Voluntary feedback

Product feedback in app settings is voluntary and independent of App Store or Google Play reviews. When you submit it, we store the category and free text with random feedback and installation IDs, app/build version, locale, time, and the IP address, country hint and user-agent observed by the server. Do not include file names, file contents, contact details or other sensitive personal information.

Website, Hosting and Security

When you open the website, the web server processes technically necessary request information such as IP address, date and time, requested URL, browser/device information, referrer and host name to deliver pages, prevent abuse and investigate errors. Production may serve static files through nginx/Caddy or a Node server; file uploads are not part of the core tools.

Usage Events

The web app may send small same-origin events to /api/render-event when a page loads or a tool is used. This product analytics is used for stability, error diagnosis and product improvement.

• Event type, brand, path and page title
• Tool kind, tool slug, target KB and optional requested dimensions
• File/MIME type, input and output byte size, output dimensions, duration and status
• For errors: technical error code, message, context and stack trace for diagnosis
• IP address, country hint, user-agent and referrer may be stored in the admin analytics log; source files, file names, accounts, payment data and file contents are not stored

Language Storage, Cookies and Ads

The language choice may be stored locally in the browser as fsf_locale; when you choose a language manually, a SameSite=Lax cookie named fsf_locale is also set for up to one year. Google AdSense may be embedded with publisher ID ca-pub-8832594316878438 for site ownership verification and, when slot IDs are configured, to deliver ads; Google may process its own data under its terms. Without configured slot IDs, no ad placements are emitted. Preset settings are stored only in this browser. (fsf_presets_v1)

Google Analytics, AdSense and Cookie Consent

Google Analytics 4 (G-2W01WD3BB4) and Google AdSense (ca-pub-8832594316878438) are integrated with Google Consent Mode. Analytics storage is enabled by default unless you turn it off in Cookie settings; ad storage, ad personalization and ad user data remain disabled by default. Google may process technical usage data such as device/browser information, referrer, pages, timestamps and a shortened or otherwise processed IP address, and may transfer data to third countries. Your choice is stored locally under fsf_cookie_consent and can be changed in the footer.

Legal Bases, Recipients and Retention

Legal bases are Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for requested app functions, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for delivery, security, abuse prevention and product analytics, and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR for legal obligations. Recipients may include hosting, infrastructure and maintenance providers. Server and analytics logs are kept only as long as needed for operation, security, troubleshooting and legal proof.

Your Rights

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it for the future. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority. Send requests to support@filesizefix.com.
